Nikki Haley Gains Ground: New Hampshire Poll Reveals Close Race with Trump
Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor, is gaining ground on Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary in New Hampshire, a recent poll reveals. According to the American Research Group Inc poll, conducted ahead of the primary on January 23, Haley secured 29% support, trailing Trump by only 4%. This marks a significant shift as Trump has consistently led in previous polls.
Another poll from Saint Anselm College New Hampshire Institute of Politics shows Haley doubling her support in the state since September. Although Trump still leads with 44% to Haley’s 30% in this poll, it suggests a potential challenge for Trump in securing the nomination.
Despite Trump dismissing these polls as “fake” and publicly criticizing Haley, there are reports that he’s considering her as a vice-presidential candidate if he wins the primary. However, the far-right reaction to this idea has been negative.
Haley, who served as the US ambassador to the United Nations and governor of South Carolina, is highlighting her recent surge in popularity. Trump, on the other hand, is facing legal challenges with 91 criminal charges related to his actions after the 2020 presidential election.
This dynamic sets the stage for an interesting primary battle, with Haley emerging as a notable contender against the backdrop of Trump’s legal troubles.
